2.21 Tutorial Tuesday

Hello out there to all the digital scrapbooking peeps! It's Honeybee Jenn, aka jk703, here for today's Tuesday Tip! I'm hoping you enjoyed the long weekend here in the states, but if not, at least it is Tuesday and not Monday! Right?! :)

Anyway... a lot of scrappers use Photoshop and Photoshop Elements to make their wonderful digital scrapbook pages! The software allows for easy maneuvering, mixing, blending and playing with our digital supplies. BUT... we should learn some of the shortcuts that are available to us in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. You can scrap a lot faster when learning some of the shortcuts that are available to you! Best of all, you can even create your own shortcuts! First, let me show you where to find the shortcut lists in Photoshop (I use CS5).

Step #1:
Click on the Top Bar's Edit Menu, and choose Keyboard Shortcuts.

Step #2:
Next, a pop out menu should appear. It will have the Keyboard Shortcuts that are available by Menu, Tool, as well as the Default Shortcut List. This is helpful.

Step #2a:
You can choose to look at the Shortcuts by using Panels or in the Tools, just make sure you click on the drop down and choose the one that is best for you.

Step #3:
If there is a function that you are constantly using in Photoshop, you can create your own shortcut! Just click in the space next to the item, and then enter your shortcut. Many times there are numerous shortcuts out there, so it may take you a couple tries to find one that hasn't been used. If there is a shortcut assigned elsewhere, the software will alert you -- but you do have the option to overwrite that shortcut if you'd like!

I created one for Duplicate - I use that so much! So that worked for me. I ended up using the Command (on a Mac) key plus the comma key. You can see it in my image below.

Every software has it's own unique features, so just in case you need to check - here is the shortcut list for CS5: Default Keyboard Shortcuts from Adobe's Website Also, you can check Adobe's Support Page to check out the specific shortcuts available for your software. Don't forget to make the software work for you! If there are shortcuts that don't work for you, then change them to something that will help you out! Scrap faster!

Now, head on over to the "Anything Goes" Challenge hosted by Tiffany (tiffany scraps) - and make a fun page for today! Have a great Tuesday!

Oh wow.. that is so useful! I use cs3, and almost never use shortcuts. I'll definitely have to set one up for select/inverse... seems like I do that constantly. Thanks for the tips!
