Neverland Scraps

My FIL went in for surgery yesterday to remove cancer from his prostate. I had called my MIL this week, checking to make sure it is still going on, etc. She had said she'd give me a call Thursday night to tell me how the surgery went. Then my BIL called on Tuesday (he calls every Tuesday to talk to the girls---he's a GREAT Uncle!) He said that he'd give me a call on Thursday and let me know how my FIL was so I didn't worry.
Well last night came and still no phone call.
It was late last night and I had my cell phone right next to me waiting for someone to call--why weren't they calling?!
Then during Lost my cell phone rings (season finale and someone calls!)
At 10:15 I picked up the phone to hear a familiar voice and it instantly puts a huge smile on my face! It was my husband calling from Iraq! :heartthrob:
He answered the phone to "did my folks call you" to which I said no and that I had the phone right here waiting. He goes "I knew you'd be worried and waiting by the phone so I asked if I could make a phone call to you to let you know how Dad is doing" :highfive:
It was so sweet that he knew I would be waiting by the phone until I got a phone call. He knew that Id be worried and took it upon himself to make a phone call to me.
Now for those of you going "who cares that he called last night" Let me also add that DH gets ONE 30-minute phone call a week. That 30-minutes is split up amongst my children and myself. So the youngest talks for 5-7 minutes, the oldest talks for 10-15 minutes while I get the remainder to talk about bills, etc, oh and with the quick "I miss you and love you" at the end! :doh4: And the weeks that he has to call his parents, we dont get a phone call at all--he used his phone call to call his folks! :hipsno:
So yeah, it was a big deal and VERY sweet of DH to call home and let me know how he's doing.
By the way, the reason why he was allowed to call was the Army knew his dad was having surgery, so they let him call home. When DH said something to his superior about me not knowing, he asked if he could call me quickly and give me the updates---what a sweetie. How nice of the person in charge to allow him to call me with an update.
Im just so thankful and on cloud nine because I got to talk to DH for 10 minutes, not about bills, not about the girls and their medical, not with the girls trying to talk over the phone call to Daddy, not with any noise---just him and I. It was nice and made my day that much better!
Oh and I was also able to tell him about the girls recital Saturday so he didn't call during it. He's going to work out a time when he call, when the girls aren't doing their recital! So yeah, another thing to be thankful for with his late night phone call!
He is so sweet and thoughtful to call me from Iraq with an update about his father!
What a great phone call!
