I am looking at buying the Nikon D40 or D60 but I am a bit concerned at the size and weight, they are quite a bit bigger than the comparable Canons. Does anyone use of of these and have any feedback on how they find it?

I like that I can get an 18-200 VR lens that will do me for most things so I only have to change for specialty lenses - it also has all the other things on my wish list I think.

Any thoughts and feedback?

I just got the D60 a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVE it! But, I'm not the one to ask about comparing it to others. It is my first DSLR with previous experience only with simple point and shoot cameras. But, I do have to say I have no regrets with this camera. It takes beautiful photos.

I have the D50 and love it but am not very good with all the features. I tend to be more of a Nikon gal than Canon - I also had a Nikon 35mm SLR, so, I am not much help either.

I bought the D80 with the 18-200 VR lens recently with my stimulus rebate (thank you George!) and I loooove it! I have only just begun to learn how to use it, but I bought it from a camera store that provides free camera lessons for SLRs and I will learn a lot more about it soon. Even just using it as a point and click, its amazing! It is heavier, but it comes with a thick neckstrap. The only problem I have found with the weight so far is that I am notorious for taking portrait shots and its heavy to hold in that direction for very long. But I'll get used to it, its been less than a month since I got it! Hope you can get a Nikon too, I'm a huge fan!

My best friend has it it's a nice camera a little heavy but it doesn't bother me and I have arthritis.

I still like my Sony a100 better...I can't wait to get enough saved for the professional Sony :)

OMG! i just ordered an 18-200 (sigma... no nikkor :( )

i'm a nikon gal. i have a d70s and d200. if i had it to do over, i'd probably go canon. that's just my personal feeling tho. most people will say there's really not that much difference. having never really used a canon dslr, i'm sure there are thing about it that don't compare to the nikon, so i think it's a toss-up!

I'm not sure about the Nikon... we bought a Canon 400D back in March and I'm totally in love with it. It really does take a brilliant picture.

Good luck, and I hope the camera you buy takes many beautiful memories for you :)
