Well gals I am still here...but no baby yet. Been busy with family staying with us and all that jazz so I haven't had any time to play, they left yesterday but will be back tomorrow for another day and a half.
Our original due date was the 6th (so technically she's not too late I guess), but at the ultrasound they changed it to the 1st and that's what we have all been going by. Guess they were more correct with the 6th.
So we have an induction date set for Friday the 13th (yeah I know...eek...but it was the soonest they would do so we took it even though it's Friday the 13th to hopefully have this baby before dd#1's b-day on the 16th).
They are going to do the prostin gel on the 13th, but they don't do inductions on the weekends so if it doesn't put me into labor we have to wait til the 16th to do more. Sigh. I can't believe we are going through this, DD#1 was right on time, but I was 10 years younger. I've been walking non stop, my dinner last night was so spicy my tongue hurt and still no signs at all. :(
Anyone had the gel? What should I expect? I've heard that inductions are more painful...is that just the drip or can the gel bring on more sudden strong/painful contractions instead of letting them build up normally?

With my 4th, I had the gel, and it did nothing :( but it does work for some people. when the put me on pitocoin (yeah, I don't know how to spell that), I had Joe within like 4 hours.
spicy is good, walking is good, manual labor is good, and sex is good. All have been known to induce labor. with first child, I ate spicy food, and had the baby within 3 days. With 3rd baby, helped re-stack the wood pile.
And yeah, I've found that it's a lot more rough when you are induced. I didn't like it at all. But, my hubby was running a boy scout camp 1 hour from home, and we were there with him. There was a 4 day break in the camp, and we hurried and to induce, then went back. Crazy, I know, but my family lived in that town, and the scout staff cooked for me, so it was all good :)
Good luck with the baby!!!! They're such a lot of fun!!

Aw, sorry no baby yet. That waiting is merciless.
I've had 4 inductions, none with any drug intervention though, they just broke my water, so I can't help ya there. Just wanted to wish you lots of luck and an easy delivery!!

I've done both. When I was induced I had an epidural and slept so good through most of it! Yea! It was very painful before they gave me the epidural tho. That was my first. The second came on his own and they wouldn't give me an epidural. I was SO mad!!! Anyways, that was way worse. But see that doesn't help you at all does it? lol! I hope she come for you all on her own before you have to find out!
Thinking of you Michelle and thank you for the update. Here's hoping for a baby on any day but the 13th or 16th. Take care and crossing my fingers.
I was induced for Braeden on his due date, he was born on his due date by c-section, so I'm of no help either :(

Thanks ladies. I was googling the gel and it apparently is only to dilate your cervix so it shouldn't be like a pitocin drip. Here's to hoping she comes before then on her own. This waiting is maddening and when you have an induction date set it just makes you wonder if there's something wrong with the baby or you that they haven't come already KWIM? Darn preggie hormones. Oh well I will just keep trying what I can, I shopped most of the day today (mostly just to walk since it's raining outside) and will keep trying tomorrow. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

Why oh why do they do that to us?!?! I hear ya! I only have a 7% chance of getting an epi (that's our hospital's stats GRRRRRRR!!) and man am I nervous about it! I did it once before but I certainly would rather have the epi option this time around!
I have a funny story about 'dry up' pills......
I tried to breast feed my son but just didn't have enough for him. I could go three days without nursing before becoming uncomfortable so I decided to just go with formula and put both of us out of our misery. I had heard about 'dry up' pills and went to my family doctor to inquire. He told me they don't give those out any longer and to put cabbage in my bra and wrap myself tightly with a tensor bandage.
Me being me, looked at him and told him I would do that if he wrapped his (not sure if the word is censored even using the proper term, so you can fill in the blank) and did the same thing.....................I walked out with the prescription, :roflmao:

Hi Michelle!
I was wondering what was up with the baby! Sorry she's taking so long - but you know girls - they have to drive their moms crazy! My first, my dd, put me through almost 40 hours of labor including 3 of pushing! What a sweetie pie! They gave me an epi & then the pitocin. When I had my son they didn't have time to give me an epi! The labor was barely 4 hours & I almost had him in the car! They got me on the table and three pushes later he was out! Much easier than dd and he was almost 9 pounds! Go figure!
Try and stay calm & keep up the walking, spicy food, etc! She'll get here when she's ready & it will be AWESOME!
Hugs, Shari

Here's hoping she makes her grand entrance on her own!! I was born on a Friday the 13th and turned out okay, though ... so try not to worry about that! I proudly proclaim that I was born on a Friday the 13th! :)

Thanks gals, right now I am just so frustrated waiting but that's all I can do. Every morning I wake up and sigh and think man I made it through another night?! I thought for sure what we did would work, lol. Oh well. To top it all off the weather is rainy (and will be all week) so we can't even go outside and do anything. And the kicker...the later she is the sooner dh has to get back to work. His boss would only let him take a certain time off. Yeah if I get induced he can be there for the labor but then back to work, unfortunately she is just not cooperating. :( I suppose I should quit complaining huh, sorry :blushing: thanks for all the positive thoughts gals it really does mean a lot to me!
