I'm having a hard time uploading some of my LO (the ones made from templates that are 12x12). Is there new size limits for uploading to the gallery? What is the limit?

TIA

are you making sure to resize to 600x600 pixels at 72 PPI? try ensuring that your file size is under 150 kb.,

No, the only one I've resized is the Promise one (I reuploaded the image because I had to fix it a shadow). I just checked and the last two LO since the changeover have been 1.4 and 1.25 MB and both were 2400x2400. Guess I'll just have to remember to resize and keep them around that size (which most my 8x8 LO are).

Have I mentioned I hate resizing!? LOL I'm so darn lazy. Or maybe I'm just too tired to do it. Yeah that's it, tired not lazy. :P

I can't get mine to upload anymore either, and mine is a JPG that is 72 KB in size. When I get to the upload/submit on the first page it says error, IE can't accept that page. It is a layout that dissappeared from my gallery just in the last two days. Any suggestions?

well with the switch from servers, we might have lost a layout or two... :( we tried to get them all!

we do have a size requirement, but the gallery should also resize it for you. maybe that's not working anymore... mel's looking in to it.

in the meantime, i save my files at 600 x 600 at 72 dpi, image quality 5, and i'm able to upload them to pretty much any gallery! i hope that helps!

ooh, mel is informing me it will resize down but there's still a file size limit, so if it's really big, it can't resize it. :(

The file size limit is 200KB. Meejay, I don't know why it wouldn't upload your layout.. sounds like a problem with IE more so than the Gallery. Have you tried again or uploading a different layout to see if it would give you the error again?

So call me dumb for the moment LOL, and tell me how to save to a different size than what I have created them in photoshop. I have a set template page I use that is 8x8 inches (which usually ends up 2400x2400 I think) at 300 dpi. I save at image quality 8 usually. Do I just start saving at 5 instead of 8? And what about when you use a template that are always 12x12 and 300 dpi I think. Those are the ones I'm having trouble with. My 8x8's don't seem to be a problem yet.

Thanks Mel! I walked away for awhile and just got it reloaded. I think it was on my end - I appreciate the advice.

For me, I use PSE6 and I use the Save for Web feature and take my 12x12 300dpi to 12% and it usually ends up around 75KB and that works.

I use save as web, resize to 500 X 500, just play with the quality and keep it under 140 kb

I use my crop tool to crop to 600x600 at 72 ppi in PSE 6, then save for web, and I can move the sliders down until it barely goes under 150 K.

I usually go to Image Size and change the DPI to 72 (since it's for the screen and not print).. then I change the Width (or Height depending on the orientation of the layout) to 600px. From there, I save it by Save for Web and choosing JPG High. My layouts are generally under 125kb when I do it this way. I hope this helps!

Yeah I do the same I go to image size and make it 600x600 and make to where it is less then 150kb because most galleries have to be under that.

I start my pages as 8x8 since I don't print larger than that. If I start with a template that is 12x12, I immediately go to Image - RESIZE and change it to 8x8 and have it save the proportions so it all is made smaller.

Then, when I want to share a layout somewhere, I do a 3 step save:

1. Save full size PSD file at 8 inches by 8 inches (want to say 2400 x 2400 pixels)
2. Save full size JPEG file at 8 inches by 8 inches at highest quality possible
3. Use - FILE - SAVE FOR THE WEB and set my image size to 600 x 600 pixels and then slide the quality bar up or down to get it under 150K.

If I forget either #1 or #2 I am so bummed because then I don't have a full sized version to print!

Wow, thanks for all the resizing info! I'll have to remember to resize next time. That is if I ever find a minute to scrap again. LOL
