I've just made a LO and originally wanted to have a journaling in round shape. I mean, not the text following a circle, but the whole text being kind of clipped to a circle. Hope you understand, what I mean?
Is that possible in Photoshop (i'm using PS 6.0) or do I have to manually type each line in the correct length? I hoped to do something like a round description field and then use center justification...

Good question. I did this with a butterfly shape but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it! It was a trial and error moment. LOL.

Ok, but that gives me hope. It has to be possible than. I doubt that you manually typed a butterfly. :-)

I know it's possible, I used to do it in PSP, but not since I switched to PSE. I think you have to use the wand to select a shape somehow and then go from there, but I'm not sure

That's easy guys - in PS I just choose the Custom Shape Tool - Ellipse Tool. Hold the Shift Key to make it irreproachable LOL, then choose the Text Type Tool and Click inside of the circle... start typing. That's all! The text will automatically be situated inside of the circle path. After you;re finished simple delete the Custom Shape layer and voila! - you have your journaling done in a cirle :)

Uh, ok. That IS easy, I think I'm able to do that. :-) Thanks Irene, I was trying like mad, because I first made the text field and wanted to clip it to a circle.
Irene will that work in PSE also?

Jo, I'm pretty sure it won't work in PSE unless it is a preset path from somewhere else(i.e. comes with a template). I know you can't make text paths in PSE and everything I have tried has not succeeded. I still use PSP for my paths, lol
I had PSP 9, never figured out how to use it so I deleted it and started playing with PSE. Not sure if I even still have PSP.....must take a look.

Ok, I tried this and it still doesn't work. But maybe that is because of my very old (ancient!) PS version? The installation is crap anyway. A good friend set it all up and I cannot install additional options like new fonts ect.
*sigh* I guess, I have to completely delete it and install it again. Maybe I will think of getting a newer version.
This blog has a good tutorial: createblog.com/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=1038

Thanks Mimi. I tried, but the result was just the same. But as I said, my PS version is not only very old, but weirdly installed. I'll test this again with the new installed version soon.

Over on your layers pallette...do you have a tab for paths?
I use CS2, so I am not sure if it's available on the older ones or not...
Usually, I make my circle (or whatever shape) then click CTRL and click on the layer picture (so it puts the marching ants around the shape itself). Then click on the paths tab over on the layer pallette and then click the New Path button on the bottom. It should create a new work path for you. Then just click back on the layers tab and then get your text tool and to have the text INSIDE the shape, you click on the inside...to have it go AROUND the shape, click on the path itself, and to go outside, just outside the path.
I hope that made SOME sense...I can do screenshots for you...but I am not even sure if you have a paths tab over on your layer pallette :?
