*** UPDATE ***

I just wanted to let you know that I'm taking down my template free'bee' to create a CU friendly pack for the shop. Last chance to download for free is aug. 31st.

************

It's time for a new template, and this time we're having focus on multiple photos..

I've made this for you:
http://gq.hemligt.net/.cache/640x640-bySine_PhotoAGanza.jpg (http://scraporchard.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=7959)
(click on the image to go to download site)

The rules for this one is to use at least 4 photos AND a multiple word title - Wordart is ok too.. :D
I'll be handing out RAKs again, and will especially be looking for balance, use of colors and dropshadows!

Here's my go with the template.. :)
http://scraporchard.com/gallery/data/600/PhotoAGanzaLO.jpg (http://scraporchard.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=7982)

I used Ellies She Dreams kit.

Please put the layout in the Challenge/Templates gallery so that we can have everything at one place. :D
- And please remember - Have fun!!

Must admit I'm a bit challenged with the text curve :(

Ginger_79
07-17-2008, 06:36 PM
I have to find the time for doing this one. I had an instant idea what to do with this beautiful template. So, count me in!

Yeah, the text curve... my paths are not working properly (computers, beasty little things they are!), but I'll try to do it manually and just bend a new text field, I guess. Ooooor, even better - I'll try to convince my father to leave me his newer PS version. Now that I have to install anyway. :-)

Sine
07-17-2008, 11:40 PM
Ohh.. Well if you're using PS CSX you can just chose the text tool, select the Journaling layer and doubleclick on top of what I made and write your own instead..
I don't know with PSE and PSP but I can tell you what I did.. :)

I wanted the text to go another way around than usually, but didn't want to mirror it so I made a circle with my marquee tool, right clicked and chose scelect inverse, then right clicked and chose make work path. At last I chose the text tool and clicked ON the circle line where I wanted my text to start and voila - I was good to go.. :D

I hope some of this helps.. I didn't intend to make a template that I was the only one to use.. LOL

~Cathi~
07-18-2008, 05:00 AM
Hmm I'll give that a try in PSP, but not sure it will work.. I'm sure I'll work something out though!! :D Thanks for your help Sine.. off to work on it now!!

I just upgraded to PSE 6 and this was my first LO using the new program, it took me a while to figure it out, but here (http://scraporchard.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=8216&ppuser=5838) is my take on it.

I've got it all done except the curved text. I can't seem to do it in PSP XI and I tried what Sine posted about it, in PS CS3 and that didn't work either...any ideas anyone?

I just opened the template in PS CS3, doubleclicked on the journaling-layer and typed away :001_cool:

LOl...that's exactly what I'm doing. Is there a certain text tool I should be on? I usually use PSP XI for my scrapping and PS CS3 for editing pictures, so I'm completely lost!

Let me see if I can put this in writing. I'm using PSPX2. Choose the pen tool (check Connect Segments and Create On Vector and choose 'draw lines point to point'). Starting at the point where you want your text to begin, begin clicking along the path you want it to go (many clicks will probably be needed). What you create will look strange as it fills in and begins to look like a semi-circle, but not to worry. This is a layer that you can turn off when you finish. When you have your path the way you want, then choose your text tool. Hover over the starting point and when the "A" shows a rocker under it, left click to anchor the text tool and begin typing. The text will follow the path you just created.

I agree that it is a lot of trouble and I have not used it very much. Then again, if I used it more it might get to be a lot easier.

Sure would love to hear it if there is an easier way to do this in PSP.

Hi Stacey.. If you have PSCS2 or 3 it's far easier just to select the journaling layer.. Press the text tool.. Double click on the text I wrote to highlight it and then just type on top of it.. ;) I hope you find a way that works! :D

Shari I'm so glad to hear that there's also hope for PSP users!

I didn't intend to make it this hard on you guys.. I must say I'm totally amazed by the layouts you've all created this time!! Fantastic layouts!! Remember to go in and check out the gallery, cause not all post their links here.. :)

Stacy and charliesnana,

There is a much simpler way to create the path for your text in PSP than drawing point to point. Just use the Preset Shape tool to draw a vector circle to match the white circle on the Paper layer in the template. That will give you a nice smooth circle for your text to go on.

Suz Shook has an excellent PSP help site. Her tutorial for Text On A Path in PSP 9 explains the what, how and why so you can understand what's happening. She covers everything, including how to reverse the path so that text along the bottom of the circle will run in the right direction.

I have no problems following the tutorial in PSP X, it should be just as clear for your versions, I don't think Corel messed with the Text tool much, unless they changed some icons. If you run into any problems, I'll be glad to answer your questions.
