I don't think there is an action for extracting things that I know of. The easiest way is to have it against a contrasting background. It takes time and can be a pain. I've been working on extracting Ziska's daughter for a really long time. Granted I only work on it for about a minute a day. hahaha

I've never heard of an action that can help. It is a slow and frustrating process but as far as I know you have to do it manually.

I would love to be wrong though - how great would a universal action be!

I know I've seen an action like this, but I cannot remember where. It was shown on a light rose in front of a dark green background. But to be honest, I doubt that a simple action will result in good extractions. Maybe if it's an image with sharp contrasts.
There is one very expensive software though, called FluidMask. I've heard good things about it, but it'll cost you a small fortune. Don't know if anyone here has experience with it.

I have seen one my Michelle Pearson but I don't know how well it works. (It is made for PS, BTW.) I have a couple of her actions and am pleased with them - but they are for color pop, lighting changes, etc.

I just use the magic extractor in PSE5.0, it works pretty good for the bulk of the picture and then I just go in and manually erase the bits and pieces. I haven't seen anything else around.

Here's one by Wendyzine.

I don't own it, so I can't tell you if it works.

Having a wacom tablet also helps when extracting. I find it much easier to use the pen than the mouse, but it's still a long and tedious process lol.
