Hello Ladies!!! I'm excited for this scrap! It seems the time flies, but I do love hosting these. I can't believe how each scrap, everyone follows my instructions and yet each LO has it's own touch! I know tonight will be no better!!
So before I get started, remember, if you want a simpler scrap, visit Ziggle Design's for Kami's latest and greatest, "Love Bug" I had a blast creating the ad, this kit is SO cute and whimsical!
You can use any kit you wish, however we do LOVE it when you use Scrap Orchard's products - but who wouldn't want to do that, the Market is rockin' with tonz of great products!
Here's a preview:

So, with out further ado, Let's Make it Snappy!!! and get down to business! Tonight, I want to focus on patterns. I have seen some layouts with some patterns on layouts that you wouldn't normally stick together, kwim? So first rule for the night: no solid papers or frames I want you to use patterned papers and frames that have a pattern or that have something on them other than the basic solid frame, kwim? Hope this isn't too complicated for you and I can promise this will be the only "stipulation".
1. Photos: tonight along with out theme, I want you to choose 1 photo. I envision a page that is more focused on a portrait type setting instead of a journaled page, but you can do as you want, however you are only permitted 1 photo. You will be duplicating it at least twice and applying a different style to it. For example, you might have a colored photo and a b&w photo, or if you want something extra special, try some selective coloring! Any way you want to change the photos is fine, but you again, use only one photo and duplicate it at least once, I am going to duplicate my twice so I have a total of three pictures

I did one somehwere else... I'm hooked now!!!
TOnight? Right now? I just checked here by chance!!! This is my lucky day!!!
I've only paperspeedscrapped.. Not exactly the same since the most demanding and time consuming thing there is scanning/taking the damn photo to upload.. LOL!
I'm here. I'll do my best to play along but it's breakfast time here and we have a busy day to get started.

lol girls, I'm sure you will all be fine, don't stress yet!!!! hee hee - just remember you will have an extra hour afterwards.
So first rule for the night: no solid papers or frames I want you to use patterned papers and frames that have a pattern or that have something on them other than the basic solid frame, kwim? Hope this isn't too complicated for you and I can promise this will be the only "stipulation".

Any way you want to change the photos is fine, but you again, use only one photo and duplicate it at least once, I am going to duplicate my twice so I have a total of three pictures.
2. Choose a minimum of two papers (remember NO solids!) Choose one as your background and the other create a mat, it can either be a whole page mat or a smaller mat behind your photos. You can start arranging your photos around on your page how you wish, no rules - they can be together, apart, anything.
I stress about finding the 'perfect' picture........already there
Hehe.. Well I hardly never find time to actually scrap anymore.. I'm feeling a bit rusty.. ;)

Fairytale_Studios
08-29-2008, 05:15 PM
aaackkk!!! No frames!! Now I'm really stressing!
Jaye, you can use frames, they just have to have a pattern on them. If you can't find one, just put a patterned paper over it:001_cool:
whew, I stopped at the bold print, no solid papers or frames and had to pick up my tiara from the floor as it fell off. LOL
steph
08-29-2008, 05:17 PM

08-29-2008, 05:21 PM

3. After your photos are arranged as you would like, now we are going to build around them. Tonight's finished product will be a simple LO however by editing your photos and choosing the right elements, hopefully this page will allow the photo to be the focus and the elements just be the "icing on the cake". So, choose at least 4 elements. It can be more or less, however you must have a min. of four. Frames, buttons, wordart, ribbons, anything is permitted (paper strips do NOT count) - DO NOT use stitching, there will be a separate instruction for stitching ;).

6. Now stop and take a couple minutes and look at your LO - what is missing other than your title? Is it another paper? an element? Whatever it is, I want you to choose either 1 additional paper or 1 additional element that you haven't already used and apply it to your page where you will want your title to be. Choose a font of your choice
Psst.. Remember to save your LO as you go along..

ok guys... this no solid papers is KILLING ME!!! OMG!!
Here's a hint - idea - take a solid paper and a patterned one and blend the two together - I never said the pattern had to be bold and bright *wink
as long as I can see a hint of pattern on the background I'll let ya slide!!!

4. Around your elements around your photos to help draw the viewer into your photos without overshadowing the photo. YOu can tuck the elements behind on top, anywhere, but make sure they are around your photos and not scattered all over the page. White space is a good thing for this LO.
5. Stitching: I want to you to choose one stitch. It can be straight, zig-zig, messy, even just a couple stitches and use it to "attach" your other paper(s) from step 1. You can use more than one stitch.
6. Now stop and take a couple minutes and look at your LO - what is missing other than your title? Is it another paper? an element? Whatever it is, I want you to choose either 1 additional paper or 1 additional element that you haven't already used and apply it to your page where you will want your title to be. We are going to use it as a clipping mask and create our own alpha for the title. Choose a font of your choice, perferably something a little more chunky that will allow your paper's pattern to show.
7. Last step, using the font you chose or alpha, create a title. It can be one or more words, however create your title. Wah-lah! Your finished! Upload your LO to the gallery and remember to come back here and post a link so I can go leave you some love!!!
The time is now: 8:01
You have until: 9:01 PM to finish up your LO and post it in the Make it Snappy gallery and link it here! Hope you ladies enjoyed the scrap and hope you are happy with your results!!!
You can find the MIS Gallery here:

Is the chat at 9PM EST the same as this or is it something else??
DOH! I can't think of a title.. :(
so we're cutting the title out of the extra paper or element?
That wont work with the element I chose so I'll go back and find some paper.

Well, I tried!!!!!! I'm on a VERY old and VERY VERY slow computer, and usually it takes me a whole day or two! to make a layout...but I've got one and even though I haven't uploaded it yet...I just had to pop in a say what a great experience this was to even try...so I'm going to post it now to the gallery and I'll be back to post the link and even if I don't get the 'bonus' I got the experience!!!! Wow, I must say I'm darn proud of myself...not so much so the layout though :) And, I'm missing the chat now...darn!
So, even though it's all over...here's my link:
