Okay ladies, I need help! I am trying to make a bunch of custom shape books(anywhere from 2x3 to 5x7) and am trying to find an easy way to cut them out smoothly on chipboard or cardboard. How do you make yours? I have a hard time getting chipboard here, so I usually get stuck using cardboard, which is a pain in the hiney to cut with an exacto knife, lol.

any tips adn tricks would be much appreciated!

Do you have use to a die cut machine? I don't know how well it would work on cardboard but you could try it out. I know that they have really cute patterns that you can use and it would be simple to cut out the cardboard and then the layout. HTH!

When I did my one and only chipboard album ( I had to cut little scallops, I'll never do that again!), I just used a really good pair of scissors. I tried my swivel blade but it didn't cut as smoothly as I wanted. Then to smooth the edges even more, I took a fine emery board and 'sanded' them.

I like Jenny's idea of a die cut machine! Wouldn't that be awesome!

I make mine with my Sizzix--and large dies. It's one of the very few things from my paper scrapping days that I still use. You can cut stuff like cereal box cardboard easily, and it covers like a dream (use some sandpaper to grit up the print so glue will adhere). Then I use ScrapFusion Adhesive in the daubber bottle to adhere the layers together. I've made circle, large heart, and square lttle books this way.
