The Rules!

Rules:

You must be 18 years or older to play. Only one person per household may enter.

Current SO Designers, Current Site Staff, and Previous Site Staff or Designers (within the last 6 months) are not eligible to win.

Our team will be checking each layout and assigning the points earned. Please indicate which points you are eligible for in the layout description to help make sure you get credit for all your points.

Ex:

1 point- completing challenge
3 points- using special kit
1 point- completing bonus challenge

If the credits don’t include a description of the eligible points, there is a chance we might overlook a point (or two). Each week we will post the assigned points in our forum and it is your responsibility to verify that you have received all your points and to notify us if there has been an error in the point calculation.

The challenge layouts MUST be posted in the correct gallery by the deadline. If the layout is posted in the wrong gallery or if it is posted after the deadline, it will not receive any points.

You must use 100% Scrap Orchard products in your layouts.

You can use current, retired and free products from current designers but you can not use products from retired designers.

You can use current products (in the store) from guest designers but you can not use non-Scrap Orchard products from guest designers.

You can use collaborations between Scrap Orchard Designers and non-Scrap Orchard Designers, as long as the Scrap Orchard Designer is still currently selling at Scrap Orchard and the product was sold at Scrap Orchard.

All contest information will be posted in the forum. It is your responsibility to check the forum for any updates, changes or clarifications.

In addition to the points awarded for the weekly challenges, we will also be giving away points throughout the month in our weekly newsletter, on our Facebook Page, through our Twitter account and in the forum. Some of these points will be limited to a small number of contestants and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis!

At the end of the contest, we will tally up each contestant’s points. Each point will equal one entry for that contestant in to a drawing for prizes. The more points you have, the more entries you will receive in the drawing.

You may only enter each challenge once. Anyone entering a challenge more than once (under one user name or multiple user names) will be automatically eliminated from the contest.

All winners will have to submit their name and address to receive their prizes. Photo identification will be required upon delivery of the prizes.

You may only win 1 prize (whichever prize has the highest value). If your name is drawn for additional prizes, it will be disqualified and another name will be drawn.

The Prizes are as follows:
Grand Prize: Apple Wi-Fi iPad (16GB) + $100 GC to Scrap Orchard
1st Runner Up: Apple iPod Touch (8 GB) + $50 GC to Scrap Orchard
2nd Runner Up: Apple iTunes Gift Certificate for $50 + $25 GC to Scrap Orchard

What is the week special collab kit? where do i find them?

Each week, we will release a special collaboration kit for that week's challenge! The kits have been custom made to the challenges so you'll have everything you need in one kit! The kits will only be on sale for the week of the challenge! After the week is over, the kits will be retired permanently!! And let me just warn you now- these kits are AWESOME! You are definitely going to want to grab them while you can!!

Being out of touch with scrapping for the past month :D I am wondering if I missed a place to register or sign up for the Iron Scrapper or is it for everyone?

it is for everyone! all you have to do is complete the challenges and we'll get your on our point roster!

Any idea on price ranges?

The kits will be $5 each- there will be one a week! They'll have all the "secret" ingredients you need to complete the challenge!

Is this just based on points or will there be judging on the layouts too?? Thanks. I might give this a go!

just points!! each point = 1 entry in to the drawing! so the more points you have the more entries you'll get in the drawing and the better your chances of winning!

as close to 12:00 am EST as we can post them!!

Just for clarification, What is the rule about using collab kits that were created by a current designer and a retired designer?

if at least one of the designers is still selling in the store, then you can use it!

are CTs for designers selling @ SO eligible?

Yup! Just site staff and former site staff are excluded from winning! But personal CT members for SO Designers can win!

when you say 100% SO products to be used what is the ruling on fonts? do we have to used SO word art/alphas? or can we use any font for titles/journalling?

If you have to credit the font- and it's off-site, then it can't be used, but if you don't have to credit it, then it can be used. I'm not really sure how fonts work- to be honest. I know some designers sell fonts and want you to credit them, so in that case, you can't use it. You can't use off-site word art or alphas.

Another question....if I buy the featured kit, can I use stuff from the SO designers that's not in the kit? As in mix and match different kits?

YES! You can use SO products outside of the featured kit in your layouts, in addition to the products from the featured kit and you will still get credit!

I have January 2009's Mystery Mega that I have yet to use, can I use this for the challenge?

Yes! You can totally use it! But you won't get the extra points for using the Featured Kit.

what is the policy on: making an element from papers etc. from a qualified SO kit AND styles and brushes?

You can't use elements or papers that you made yourself. If you want to clip a SO paper to a font or something along those lines, you can do that, but it won't count toward any requirements for the layout (ex. clipping a paper to a cloud shape that you made).

so basically the only way to play in this game is to buy the kit each week?

Nope! Anyone who completes any of the challenges- either with a purchase or without- can win. We have a number of challenges where there is no purchase necessary. For example, the avatar challenge was worth 1 point. So everyone who completed the avatar challenge will receive one entry in to the drawing. We also have a number of challenges that do require a purchase. The people who complete those will get more entries in to the drawing than the people who don't complete them.

also no styles or brushes even that don't need credit.

If you don't need to give credit, I would consider that more of a tool than a product. For example, a standard font. You can use any tool you want!

r we allowed to alter anything? color, bevel etc. or does it need to be EXACTLY the way the designer did it

You can also alter anything you want, but you may not be able to get credit for it in your layout. You could make clouds out of papers (as long as they are SO papers), or even draw clouds on your layout, but they won't apply to the requirement of 7 different clouds elements. You can add bevels or re-color any element also, but the base element must be a SO element and if you want credit in the layout, it must be the required element.

I always credit fonts - as people will ask which ones we used. So does my LO not qualify because I used puppet face and Cooper Black???

If you bought a font at another Digital Scrapbooking Site and the designer requires you to credit her (not just the name of the font) then you can not use it. If you want to add a line in your credits listing the names of the fonts- that's totally cool and much appreciated by the peeps who will want to know what awesome fonts you used!

I've tried to read everything and find the answer... but I'm not sure....

if we miss a weekly challenge, can we still play? Or do we have to do all the weekly challenges?? It sounds like if we do any of them we can, is that right?

yes! you can pick and chose which events you participate in!!

Maybe I missed the answer to this question but since we can earn 5 possible points on the weekly challenge, do they all have to be on one layout? Meaning if I decided to do two of the challenges on one layout, can I do a different layout with the third part to get all the points?

They do all need to be on the same layout. The base challenge is the main challenge and that has to be met for any of the other points to qualify. Then on top of that you can earn 3 points for using the featured kit and another 1 point for doing the bonus challenge!

I've read so much, maybe I missed it...When does the IS Challenge end?
