Taking A Stroll Through The Orchard
February 6th, 2010
![]()
I must say that I love it here at the Orchard and that honestly goes beyond me being on the Honey Bee team. I wandered around the digital scrapbook scene for quite some time looking for a place to call home. I am one of those people who found it hard to just jump right and and find any level of acceptance. Yes I admit it, I was the thread killer and after some time it is hard to not give up trying.
But the Orchard has been quite different from the start and I haven’t even considered calling any other place home but here. And I’m not the only one feeling this way, new posts in the forum of gals each week who are coming out of the shadows and planting their own trees here at the Orchard. We hang out at the treehouse sharing some good laughs and good times and even helping each other out along the way. It really is a wonderful place to be so if you haven’t already come on over and say hi, plant your trees and stay a while for there is enough sunshine in the Orchard for everyone.
Good chatting is not all that it takes to make a good scrapping home and the Orchard has its full share of other things to do. There are daily challenges to really get the creative juices flowing and you even earn points towards coupons for the market. No matter what your interest, photography, journaling or out of the box challenges you are sure to find it here. So don’t be shy come on in check it out and jump right on in with your favorite challenge pick.
Speaking of challenges I want to let you all know that the Orchard will be one of the stops on this years ADSR. I’m all signed up and so are many girls here at the Orchard. We are feeling the excitement and are ready to get started which will at one point give way to sheer panic and worry but that is all part of the game. So if your signed up and looking for a place to hang out and discuss the happenings we have the place just for you.
Another thing that makes the Orchard such a great place to be is the gallery. Not only is this the place for genuine love beyond “nice LO” trying to compete in some praise game. But the gallery is rocking with some super creative pages and it is a great place to find some inspiration when your creative mojo is running on empty. I like to browse through the gallery daily and today I’ve found some beauties I just had to share.
Momadee with “Our Old Truck” just jumped out of the gallery. This page is really a piece of art, the shadowing makes me say ‘oh wow’ and secretly jealous. It is like I’m looking down at her living room table as she really captured the moment in this LO
Keyr has a super simple yet so fantatic LO entitled “Another Day”. It is capturing those simple moments that make us smile and just enjoy the moment. She really captured that feeling with this LO.
KayM captured the feeling of winter in this fabulous chilly page entitled “Winter Wonderland” The pictures are super cute and the color on the hat really makes them stand out all the more in this LO. And the page looks filled without having the feeling of being so heavy by a lot of elements.
Y_Baros with her LO “Metting Micah” is just so touching. She captured that soft moment when a sibling is introduce of the new addition to the family. The LO is simple, all the focus is on the pics and the large blended photo really brings all the meaning to this LO.
Lizzy’s LO “Fresh” really made me smile. I have twins and I just love seeing little ones together sharing their moments. These LO really brought me back in time when I could spend an entire day just watching the interaction between my two. And this LO is no exception to the beautiful wonder of it all. How much fun are these girls having? And the feeling is shard within the colors and whimsical doodles of the kit. Perfect choice all the way around.
As you see there are many things at the Orchard to do and get invovled in. The community here is super wonderful, welcoming, helpful and will always bring about a laugh. So what is stopping you? Come on in and introduce yourself we always like to see a new face emerge from the shadows.

One Love – Thank you.

When we heard about the devastating earthquake in Haiti last month, we knew we had to help. We began contacting Designers throughout the digital scrapbook community, inviting them to join us in a collaborative project to raise money for the relief and recovery efforts in Haiti. We were overwhelmed and honored at the responses to our invitations. In total, forty-eight Designers from around the digital scrapbook community collaborated to create the charity kit, One Love.
The theme, “One Love”, symbolizes not only our heartfelt effort to help the people of Haiti, but also encompasses the diverse styles of all the Designers involved in this project. The kit represents the diversity of our community and shows that even though we are all different, when we come together the result is truly spectacular.
We began selling One Love on January 22, 2010; and within just nine short days had raised over $9,600.00 USD. We were able to make our first donation in the amount of $9685.84 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund on February 3, 2010. We chose the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund not only because it embodies the spirit of One Love, but also because 100% of the donations will go to the relief and recovery efforts in Haiti and because they are working to provide both immediate relief and long-term support to the earthquake survivors.
We have been deeply touched by the love and selflessness shown throughout the digital scrapbook community; from the Designers who helped to create this kit to those who helped promote it and those who purchased it. We are very proud to be part to such a wonderful community. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us make a difference.

The 5 “W’s” of Scrapbooking ?
February 4th, 2010
![]()
Good Thursday to you all, Honey Bee Christine here to bring you a pretty interesting challenge. I know why I Scrapbook, but now I want to know why YOU scrapbook. Your challenge, if you choose to accept it is to make a page with the 5 W’s of Scrapbooking…confused? Well I want you to use the following prompts:
Who, What, Where, When and Why you Scrapbook. Now this is not limited to Digital Scrapbooking, I would love to hear some input from those paper Scrappers out there and I know that you exist and even all the fabulous Hybrid gals too.
The only thing that must be on your page are those 5 W’s I mentioned above…you don’t have to have pictures if you don’t want to but if you choose to just make sure you have those 5 W’s somewhere on that page.
Here is what I did with my page. And can I tell you that this is only the second page I have ever done without photos..it was weird for me but I had fun doing it anyway. I used a gorgeous kit from LCC by Amy Stoffel called LOVE YOU

I hope you join us for this one, I love reading about this kind of stuff……
I also cannot forget to mention that ASDR5 is kicking off in a few days and The Orchard is going to be on of the stops again this year. I am going to race this year…I have never done it before so I am really excited about it and I have a really great partner so it should be a lot of fun.
Check back tomorrow to see what the Honey Bee’s have in store for you….it is new release day at the Orchard so I know for a fact that there is some great stuff coming that you will not want to miss out on especially when it is on sale!!!
Have a great weekend….Christine
